Witness Statements

WITNESS STATEMENTS

Statement taking investigations are the most common method investigators use for gathering information other than surveillance. For certain types of investigations obtaining witness statements is the foundation for gathering information. Investigations related to criminal defence, personal injury, workers compensation claims, sexual-harassment, and various other types of workplace incidents, investigators gather information and reconstruct events based on information provided to them from witnesses. As a result, the ability to take statements is a critical part of the investigation process.

Obtaining both recorded and informal on-site statements is also a very important part of trial preparation. Many attorneys often prefer to sign out statement taking investigations with respect to a wide variety of criminal and civil litigation and their purpose is to gather information and to determine the credibility of witnesses and the relevancy of their testimony.
